Calm before the storm

Calm before the storm

As I stand staring at the majestic ocean, My eyes affixed on the waves in motion.

My feet feel a wave hit the shore with a force so great, Leaving a wee shell on the sand in a transfixed state.

As the waves recede with a greater force, I see the shell resist the wave trying to pull it off shore.

I wonder how the hollow shell, Stands its ground when the waves swell.

I wonder where the shell gathers its strength from, How it does not let the deluge of salty water take it along.

I also, see the tides at their highs and lows, Reminding me that it is seldom okay to take things slow.

My feet sink in the brown sand warm, With the new found wisdom, I stand there like calm before the storm.
